Summer 2015 OBX Events

SUMMER is halfway over on the Outer Banks!! We don't want you to worry about trying to find something to do with your family. Take a peak at the BIG events happening throughout the second half of the summer. These events will keep you busy just a few days before fall. They are too hot to pass up!

First Fridays in Manteo

Stores are open late, restaurants beckon you with excitingfood, and there's a bevy of activity taking place outside including various small concerts, farmers markets, and crafter/artisan displays.

The Lost Colony

Faire Days Festival

Free Yoga in Duck

June 16 - Sept 8lTown GreenlDuck, NCLike Yoga? Like free things? Get on out to the town green every Tuesday morning at 7:30 from June 16 through September 8 for a free class! Participants are asked to bring their own mat/towel and water.

Children's Interactive Theater

June 23 - Aug 11lTown GreenlDuck, NCHere's another great activity in the town of Duck, NC... educational and fun theater shows for the kids every Tuesday morning at 9:45am. Presented by The NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island, The Lost Colony, and Roanoke Island Festival Park, these shows are designed to get everyone involved as you're entertained and educated on various topics. This is another free event and seating is limited so make sure to get there on time! Duck, NC also offers morning storytelling every Thursday From July 9 - Aug. 13 at 10am on the amphitheater stage.

OBX Watermelon Festival

July 30 | Jockey's Ridge | Nags Head, NCWho likes watermelon on a hot day at the beach? Well Kitty Hawk Kites wants you to come to Jockey's Ridge Crossing and help them celebrate this festival. There will be a splash tank, corn hole, toy demos, face painting, and tons of watermelon competitions. Just to name a few competitions we have seed spitting, watermelon eating, and a watermelon ice cream eating competition.

Windmill Point Art Fair

Aug 6 l Outer Banks Event Site | Nags Head, NCGet some fresh air,walk about at the new Outer Banks Event Site, and enjoy shopping the wares of local artisans! This is the 3rd annual event and takes place the first Thursday of June, July, and August. Over 40 artists and crafters will be present from all over the region. The fair is open from10am to 6pm.

Outer Banks Pirate Festival

Aug 12 - 14 | Jockey's Ridge | Nags Head, NCArgh me Matey! Kitty Hawks Kites has done it again. Ye need to come to Jockey's Ridge Crossing and be part of Blackbeards' Crew. Kids don't forget to participate in the Scalawag school. Come storm the sand dunes and learn the history of the OBX pirates. Be there argh!!

Full Moon Lighthouse Climbing

Aug 29 l Bodie Island Lighthouse & Cape Hatteras LighthouseYou may have climbed these lighthouses during the day but have you tried it at night? Get your flashlight ready and get tickets. There will be keeper present to tell you the history of lighthouse during the climb. Also, you will get to see the full moon rise above the ocean too!

WRV Outer Banks Pro

Aug 26 - 30 | Jennette's Pier| Nags Head, NCWRV Outer Banks Pro is presented by Hurley and Pacifico. Bring the kids, beach chairs, and coolers and plan to spend the weekend watching pro surfers competing for the title. This one of the biggest surf contests here and there is plenty of parking and great views from the pier.

Zoso-The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience

Sept 5 | Roanoke Island Festival Park | Manteo, NCIf you never seen Led Zeppelin from back in the day then Zoso is a must see tribute band. Zoso embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit. Experience this show at the outdoor pavilion at the Roanoke Island Festival Park.

Saga Outer Banks Triathlon

Sept 12 - 13 | Downtown Manteo | Manteo, NCDo you have what is takes to be the all star triathlete? If so then come and register to enter the Outer Banks Triathlon. If you just want to be a spectator then come and cheer on the competitors. This is an inspiration for everyone to watch!

ESA Eastern Surfing Association

Sept 20 - 26 | Jennette's Pier | Nags Head, NCThis is the best amateur surfers on the East Coast. It is presented by the Outer Banks Tourism Bureau. This fun event is the last event of the summer so why not come see it. There is plenty of parking and great views from the pier.
