March is a beautiful time of the year to be here at the Outer Banks. Then again when isn't it a beautiful time of the year when you're here? There is fun for the whole family in our March events. From the Mardi Gras Gala, to the Graveyard 100, to North Carolina's largest St. Patrick's Day Parade! Many proceeds benefit our local community and more! The events happening throughout March are:
March 1, 2014 l Ramada Plaza l Nags Head, NC l Map
2nd Annual OBX Women's Winter Expo Hosted by Outer Banks Entrepreneurs. The expo will be open from 9AM to 5PM.There will be over 50 unique and creative vendors, with door prizes given away every 10 minutes! This event is fun for the whole family and free to the public. Come out and support our local artists and entrepreneurs!
March 1, 2014 l Jennette's Pier l Nags Head, NC l Map
The 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Gala will be in held at Jennette's Pier in Nags Head from 7PM - 11PM. Dress in your best Mardi Gras semi-formal attire. Listen to the sounds of New Orleans Style Performers, and indulge in New Orleans inspired food by Baja Grille. Beer and wine also provided by Baja Grille. Silent Auction. Tickets: $50. Proceeds benefit Outer Banks Children at Play Museum.
March 8-9, 2014 l Currituck Heritage Park l Corolla, NC lMap
A point to point race, from Currituck Heritage Park to the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras. There is a 100mile and 100k race available. They don't call this race the Graveyard for nothing. It's recorded more than 1,000 ships met their doom along route of the this race. Cut-off time is 30 hours for the 100mile, and 20 hours for the 100k. Mentally, physically, and logistically preparedness is recommended.
March 13-16, 2014 l Outer Banks
Annual food and wine festival of the Outer Banks. Event location range all over the Outer Banks. Top restaurants on the beach coordinate for a weekend full of food, drinks, and fun. March 15, 2014 l Kelly's Tavern in Nags Head l Map
New this year, from an 8k to 10k. Start and finish at Kelly's Tavern in Nags Head. There are three divisions: 10k adult, 10k military, and 10k youth 18 and under. The race route takes you on and off road, through the trails of beautiful Nags Head Woods. Benefits go to the Outer Banks Community Foundation. After party held at Kelly's with Guinness, Irish stew, sweet potato rolls, and more!
March 15, 2014 l Sanderling Resort l Duck, NC l Map
The Sanderling Resort is proud to host the Wedding Showcase of it's hand selected preferred vendors. Brides and Grooms can meet photographers and videographers. As you walk through the expo you can sample cakes, and talk to officiants about what your ideal day entails. Tickets are $15.00. The event runs from 11AM - 4PM.

Kelly's 25th Annual St. Patrick's Day parade is one of the largest in the state of North Carolina. Starting on the beach road at Bladen street in Nags Head and goes 1 mile to Driftwood Street. The theme this year is Outer Banks Heroes. They say you better wear your green, but this year wave our red, white, and blue. Awards will be given for best overall, best float, best music/band, best unit, and 2 parade guests will be named best route theme. Fun for the whole family!
