On the Outer Banks this holiday season? While normally occurring New Year’s Eve events are mostly cancelled this year, there are some fun ways to enjoy the holidays OBX style.

Stroll along enchanted garden paths and discover the joy of the season with holiday lights, sights and sounds transforming The Elizabethan Gardens into an illuminated winter wonderland. The radiant glow of the gardens, traditional holiday decor and fantastical displays are a true spectacle to behold. Festive trees grace the Gatehouse and Reception Hall, and a crackling open-air fire warms the Great Lawn. Seasonal gift shop and plant sales coincide.

Yes, you read that right! Ice skating here at the marina! Come on down and have some fun on the rink. We have the skates! Enjoy the outdoors and practice safe social distancing all while enjoying your time on the Outer Banks. Beach bonfires are a great way to celebrate! There are strict rules on fires, so please be sure to click here for more information from OuterBanks.com before lighting up.
- Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, and Kill Devil Hills - Bonfires are not allowed on the beach.
- Nags Head - Bonfires are allowed on the beach with a permit. Permits are issued by Nags Head Fire and Rescue online here. Permits are based on current wind and fire danger conditions.
- Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras, and Ocracoke (Cape Hatteras National Seashore oversees these beaches) - Beach fire permits are required. Print, sign and keep your paper permit with you (permits available here)From May 1 to November 15, beach bonfires are only allowed at Coquina Beach, the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras, and the Ocracoke day use area. From November 16 - April 30, Beach fires are allowed throughout the park. Fires are allowed from 6am - 10pm. An adult must be present. Fires must not be greater than 3 feet in diameter. Fires must be built and maintained below the high-tide line and 50 feet from any vegetation. Fires cannot be left unattended and must be extinguished upon end of use. The area must be cleaned up.
JOIN THE OBX WOMENS ADVENTURE CLUB ANNUAL FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT INTERFAITH COMMUNITY OUTREACH IN MEMORY OF OUR LOCAL FRIEND SHANE MILES.
Plunge or toe dip into 2021 at the Ocean Bay Lifesaving Station, KDH while raising money for a good cause. We will have a lifeguard on duty. All donations will be given to Interfaith Community Outreach to help a family during a difficult time. You do not have to plunge or dip; you may simply donate.
You may participate virtually if you wish (Please use safety precautions) and mail your donation (Labelled in the memo: Adventure Club Polar Plunge) to Interfaith Community Outreach, 2 Juniper Trail, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949. Be sure to have your donation submitted by January 7. Please contact Stephanie Anderson 770-533- 1671 with any questions, and to RSVP so the lifeguard knows how many to expect.
