OBX Guide to 4th of July Fun!

Fourth of July on the Outer Banks is a unique, family-fun spectacle with a wide variety of activities up and down the coast! Whether you are looking for an illuminating display of fireworks on the beach or an Independence Day festival with food and entertainment, excitement is not hard to find this Fourth of July! From North to South, we’ve got you covered in finding the perfect Fourth of July celebration.

Corolla

The Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism invites you to visit Historic Corolla Park for the annual Independence Day Celebration. Activities will begin at 5 PM and feature live music, food, family-fun events and much more! The event concludes with a fireworks show at dusk. Admission and parking are both free.

Duck

The Town of Duck offers a whole day of fun, complete with Duck’s annual one-mile parade and a community celebration to follow. The celebration provides visitors with live music, cold refreshments and awards trophies from the parade.

Kill Devil Hills

The town of Kill Devil Hills presents the chance to start your day off early with the 11th annual OBX Freedom 5k Run. Venture through some of the picturesque sights on the Outer Banks on your run, knowing that even more holiday fun lies ahead in Kill Devil Hills! Visitors can keep the holiday spirit going at the Kill Devil Hills fireworks show at Avalon Pier. Located at milepost 6, visitors are encouraged to pull up a beach chair and arrive early for the spectacular fireworks show beginning at 9:15 PM.

Nags Head

Kill Devil Hills isn’t the only town that provides a scenic run to start the holiday! Visit Jockey’s Ridge State Park for the exciting Killer Dunes two-mile run! The festive race through the historic Jockey’s Ridge State Park is a fantastic way to start the holiday. Afterward, join the other participants for a post-race party featuring food, beer and fun!

If it’s fireworks you’re looking for, the Town of Nags Head Fireworks Spectacular is the place for you. Head to milepost 11.5 and bring your beach chair and towels for a fabulous show at 9:25 PM.

Manteo

The Town of Manteo teems with festive fervor as the city celebrates its famed Fourth of July celebration. The fun begins at 3 PM with the singing of the National Anthem, leading to apple pie, contests, watermelon eating contests, a kid’s parade and much more! Head over to the Roanoke Island Festival Park stage for a variety of live music, followed by a breathtaking fireworks show.

Avon

Avon provides an exciting way to spend your July 4th with an exciting list of events and excitement leading up to the scenic firework display at the Avon Fishing Pier at 9 PM.

Ocracoke

Take the ferry down to the beautiful Ocracoke Island for a whole weekend of fun! Ocracoke’s Independence Day celebration begins on Sunday, July 2 with live music followed by fireworks at 9:15 PM. The following two days offer a variety of dances, parades and celebrations that showcase the beauty of historic Ocracoke Island. The fun-filled Fourth of July weekend concludes with a community beach fire under the stars.

Currituck and Dare County Fireworks Laws
